WOW!
I hadn't realised how long it was since I'd last updated this page, so sorry for not keeping you in the loop. So much has been happening since August. Nick (the editor), James (the director) and I (Zahra - the producer) have been working hard on the edit. Over the course of last season we shot over 200 hours of footage! Add in the Camerafan stuff and I'm sure you can understand just how mammoth a task this has been. Usually on a feature film, you have a team of editors and assistants. We have a team of one - assisted by the director and producer, it's been a steep learning curve for us too - as our background is in drama films - where you have a script to work from. Anyway, enough mithering - I'm not feeling sorry for us - as we've done it. We're not finished yet - and in fact we're behind schedule (if you remember - it was originally supposed to come out in time for the Premier League season (Premiere in the Premier at all that). Eventually it was bumped to Christmas just gone - mainly because Nick didn't join our team until April! Anyways - we're now looking at Springtime. We're at Third Rough Cut - that means the shape of the film is very much there. The characters are drawn, the story is written and the bulk of the edit is done. We still need to get to picture lock (which is exactly what it sounds like it is) - the picture is LOCKED - no more editing. Then we need to get the titles and grade done, the music composed and the sound mixed. So we're still some way off, but there is light at the end of the tunnel (and no, it's not an oncoming train!) Since the turn of the New Year, we've shown the rough cut to a few very trusted people - and for the most part the feedback has been pretty positive - so we definitely feel we're on the right track and we should meet our new deadline. keep checking back - I PROMISE I won't leave it this long again.

To celebrate the on year anniversary of having the idea for this film, I thought I'd share this very raw clip of when NUFC find out they've won the Championship. Just a few photos from the last game of the season. All photos by Steven Landles.
It's almost 10 days since we won the Championship, I think I'm still on the ceiling. I mean, I'm high - hardly surprising when you consider the last few weeks of the season - from the LOW POINT of Ipswich Away on Easter Monday to the magnificence of winning promotion and then the Championship at St James' Park in the 89th minute of the final game of the season. TALK ABOUT A HOLLYWOOD ENDING!
Today we got to interview Rafa Benitez and again he stressed that it's a team effort: team, club, fans, City - UNITED I've managed to be fairly regular with posts (mainly outtakes TBF) through the season, but I'm hoping to share a lot more with you guys through the post production process, now that I'm not flying around the country following our fans.. We still NEED YOU - share this, spread the word, if you haven't already upload your footage. I (WE) want this to be OUR film - a film that hopefully goes some way to showing the lengths that we go to in order to follow our team. Thanks for sharing our journey and thanks for letting us into your lives this past 9 months. HOWAY THE LADS! |
